Replace roof at Hancock Maintenance Facility
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park » Replace roof at Hancock Maintenance Facility » Document List
The current shingle roof has deteriorated and is need of repair. The shingles will be removed and dispose of in at approved disposal site (county landfill). Park staff will inspect the roof structure once the shingles are removed and repair/replace any deteriorated sheathing and replace roofing felt. The new roofing will be sheet metal roof rather than shingles. The sheet metal roof will be more sustainable and will be installed according to manufacturer specs. Sheet metal roofing will be LEED/Energy Star compliant and after life cycle may be recycled.
The park's Interdisciplinary Team reviewed the project for impacts to natural and cultural resources. The project does not pose any serious or long-term effects to the environmental, historical, cultural, archeological, or visual resources. It meets categorical exclusion #C.3 – Routine maintenance and repairs to non-historic structures, facilities, utilities, grounds, and trails.
