This project will provide scheduled visitor shuttle service between the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center and destinations along Northside Drive east of El Capitan cross-over. This service will be an extension of existing visitor shuttle services operated by Delaware North Companies Parks and Resorts pursuant to the terms of a concession contract. Service will be provided on a daily basis, initially between June and September annually. The shuttle will stop at five places along a 7.3 miles loop on northside and southside Drives to facilitate use of the west valley by hikers. No formalized shuttle bus stops are proposed at this time. The shuttle will stop at a currently hardened site a Camp 4, in the El Capitan Picnic Area parking lot, on the roadway east of El Capitan crossover, on the roadway at the 4 Mile trailhead and the Valley Visitor Center. Temporary shuttle stop signs will be installed in a manner that will allow them to be removed when the shuttle is not operating. The recommended method of installing the shuttle stop signs is to dig a hole in the ground to a depth of approximately 18" to 24" and place a 4" x 4" post in the hole, and anchor the post in the ground with the dirt removed from the hole. This program would have a 5-year sunset date of September 2012.
