Replace Route 9 Conifer Barrier
Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site » Replace Route 9 Conifer Barrier
The National Park Service has completed the assessment and review for replacement of a large stand of pine and hemlock trees located along Route 9 at the Vanderbilt Mansion, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). After extensive public input and agency reviews, the NPS has determined that it will carry out the project by removing and replanting only those trees posing a high- or severe risk to public safety. About 100 trees will be removed and replanted over the next year. A FONSI (Finding of No Significant Impact) has been prepared and is availabel for download.
