The purpose of this project is to replace the Moore Cottage roof at the Wawona Hotel Complex. The project will be performed in phases. Phase I includes selected demolition and roof construction activities necessary to winterize the existing roof to prevent water damage from inclement weather(scheduled to be performed in November/December 2006). Phase II includes complete roof design and installation scheduled for 2007.

Phase I of this project is necessary to winterize the upper cupola and roof system to prevent water infiltration and protect interior walls and finish during winter months. Winterization scope of work includes removal of rotted siding as needed at the upper walls from the window bottoms to the roof below, install plywood to the wall areas, install new metal flashings, apply a water and ice shield product, install metal patches in rusted roof areas,prime and apply coat of water and ice shield 6 inches below patch up to the top termination point, retain salvaged siding and trims to duplicate patterns upon purchase of new replacement materials.

Phase II, design and installation of the Moore Cottage roof is in preliminary planning and a project will be submitted when a preliminary design is ready for review and approval by the National Park Service.
