South Entrance Interim Traffic Safety Improvements

Yosemite National Park » South Entrance Interim Traffic Safety Improvements » Document List

This project entails adding temporary traffic safety improvements to South Entrance Station. Thirteen ten-foot sections of K-rail will be installed within the road prism, for traffic entering and exiting the park, and will be secured in place by using 3/4" rebar approximately 2 feet into the prevously disturbed paved surface. Striping will be on paved road surface leading up to the middle kiosk, seperating traffic into two lanes. Signage will entail two signs, one directional sign and one sign indicating the narrow exit lane width. These signs will require placement in the soil and will displace a 4"x4" section approxamately 3 feet in depth. Removable channelizers will be installed at the entance lanes between the kiosks and the tee intersection in an effort to prevent vehicles from crossing lanes. The work will be performed by the Roads branch.
