Fish Passage: Temple of Sinawava Dam Removal

Zion National Park » Fish Passage: Temple of Sinawava Dam Removal » Document List

The National Park Service (NPS) at Zion National Park (ZION) proposes a project to remove the existing concrete dam and waterline at the Temple of Sinawava. The waterline would be replaced and installed three to four feet below the river bottom. The river would be regraded, and buried grade control weirs would be installed along the length of the regraded river to protect the new buried waterline from scour. Embankment protection would be installed to protect historic features and water infrastructure. After construction, the access and staging area would be restored and revegetated with native seed mix and vegetation. A Floodplain Statement of Finding was prepared for the proposed action as it would impact floodplains and their associated values.

The NPS welcomes your comment on the Floodplain Statement of Finding for the regulatory floodplain of the North Fork of the Virgin River in ZION. This document can be found in "Document List" menu to the left of the screen.
