The Plan / Environmental Assessment that was developed for this proposed work evaluated four alternatives, including three alternative reroute alignments for Stehekin Valley Road. The identified preferred alternative was to construct an upper 3,600 foot road reroute around the Coon Run washouts which offered the best long-range solution by moving the road out of both floodplains and provided the best long-term benefit to natural resources and visitor access.
On June 30, 2005, the Regional Director of the National Park Service Pacific West Region signed the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)/decision document for this EA, identifying alternative D as the selected alternative for implementation.
Enclosed within the documents section of this webpage is the the full environmental assessment and the Finding of No Significant Impact.
