Haleakalā National Park has released a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Pilot Release of 'Alala (Corvus hawaiiensis) on East Maui, Hawai'i Environmental Assessment (EA). The FONSI was signed by the Regional Director of Interior Regions 8, 9, 10, and 12, on August 5, 2024, concluding the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for this project.

The FONSI and EA are available by clicking on the "Document List" link on the left side of this page. The EA Public Comment Report is appended to the FONSI.

The project is jointly led by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources; the NPS is a cooperating agency for NEPA. The USFWS and DLNR requested public input on the EA during a 34-day EA public review period from October 27, 2023, to November 29, 2023. In total, 35 independent pieces of correspondence to the EA were received. A public comment report along with agency responses is included in Attachment A of the FONSI.

All agencies have prepared their own FONSI or final EA.
