The Trigger #1 would be an exploratory well, if it proves to be a producing well, additional wells may be directionally drilled to target locations under BITH. Hydraulic fracturing and well stimulation would not be conducted. The well would be plugged and abandoned if or when production is not economically viable.
• The wellbore would be drilled from an existing wellpad approximately 1,950 feet north-northwest from the unit boundary
• Casings would isolate the wellbore from ground water resources
• NO hydraulic fracturing or well stimulation is planned
• NO surface use with-in the park unit will be authorized
• An approved Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure plan would be utilized
• Lawco has demonstrated they have a valid right to develop an existing nonfederal mineral lease as required by 36 CFR 9.71(b) and has submitted all necessary documents per 36 CFR 9(b).
The NPS is preparing an Environmental Assessment and is seeking public scoping comments on potential impact topics to better help conduct a meaningful analysis.
Potential impact topics to be analyzed include, but are not limited to, impacts to air quality, water usage and water quality, environmental justice populations, and visitor use.
If you would like to submit a comment please do so through the PEPC system. Meaningful substantive comments should address project specific activities and potential impacts to specific resources of concern.
