GRSM Fire Management Plan Environmental Assessment

This Evironmental Assessment evaluates the impacts of two alternatives for managing fires within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The EA also solicits public comments regarding those alternatives and the actions proposed in this proposed new Fire Management Plan. The Park's current Fire Management Plan was approved in 2004. National Park Service fire management policies require that National Park Service units update their Fire Management Plans every five years. In addition there have been significant changes in Service-wide fire management policy and direction which must be incorporated into this proposed new plan.
