Rocky Mountain NP Day Use Visitor Access Strategy Planning: Winter 2022/2023

Park staff are seeking the public's continued engagement and input on the park's long-range Day Use Visitor Access Strategy. We hope to hear from members of the public who have recently visited the park, as well as those who have told us they no longer visit Rocky Mountain National Park because of crowding and congestion.

Members of the public are invited to submit their comments beginning December 12, 2022, through February 1, 2023. The planning team is interested in hearing from you and getting your feedback on ideas for draft strategies.

Step 1. Learn About the Issues

On this page you can find links to a story map and other materials to help you learn about park values, the planning process, the issues that this plan is designed to address, and the potential ideas to address these issues.

Step 2. Join the Conversation

The park hosted a public open house on Tuesday, December 6, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Estes Park Museum in Estes Park, CO. This open house provided an opportunity to drop in, meet with NPS staff, and learn more about the potential ideas and strategies to address long term day use at RMNP.

The park also hosted a virtual public meeting on Thursday, December 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The virtual meeting included a presentation, followed by a question and answer session. The information presented at the open house was the same information presented at the virtual public meeting. Click the YouTube link below to view the recording of this meeting.

Step 3. Share Your Ideas

We know that your experience of Rocky Mountain NP is important! So, whether you come to the park every week, or have yet to visit, we want to hear from you! During this comment period, it is most helpful if you respond to as many of the following questions as you can.

Comment Period: Closed        Dec 12, 2022 - Feb 1, 2023
Topic Questions:
1. Based on your desired experiences and protection of natural and cultural resources at Rocky Mountain National Park, which of the (or combination of ideas) do you think best achieve the purpose of the plan?
