Temporary Access Permit to Cross BELA for Shishmaref Relocation Reconnaissance Study EA

The National Park Service is considering a request from the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) for temporary access across Bering Land Bridge National Preserve for the Shishmaref Relocation Road Reconnaissance Project. Congress has made funds available to ADOT&PF through the Federal Highway Administration to study the potential for developing a suitable material site at Ear Mountain with an access road from Shishmaref Inlet across the Preserve. ADOT&PF is proposing to conduct exploratory drilling along the route when there is adequate protective snow cover and summer drilling at Ear Mountain.
