DC SHPO Concurrence Letter for Proposed location

Based upon the results of our May 4, 2015 site visit and the review of the recent project submittal, we understand that the proposed "prayer plaque" or inscription of the prayer that FDR prayed on D-Day will be installed at one location near the "Circle of Remembrance" - which was identified in the project submittal as Alternative A (see attached map). Although the final, specific location and design have not yet been finalized, the plaque/inscription will be modest in size and scale and compatible with the surrounding memorial and East and West Potomac Parks Historic District. For these reasons, we agree that the proposed APE is sufficient and concur that the undertaking will have "no adverse effect" on historic properties, including archaeological resources, provided that we are given additional opportunities to review and comment on the selection of the final location and designs and that any such comments will be incorporated into the project.
