Stickfoot Branch Stream Restoration Environmental Assessement (EA)

WASHINGTON, DC, July 19, 2021— The District Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) and the National Park Service (NPS) are seeking public comments on an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Stickfoot Branch Stream Restoration Project. This proposed stream restoration project is located on NPS park land near the Garfield Heights neighborhood in southeast Washington, DC, west of the intersection of Langston Place SE, 22nd Street SE, and Hartford Street SE.

This project's purpose is to reduce streambank erosion and downcutting of the stream channel; improve stream habitat; manage invasive vegetation; protect existing sanitary and stormwater infrastructure; and minimize impacts to natural and cultural resources. The stream restoration would improve the long-term stability of Stickfoot Branch stream and improve downstream water quality, supporting water quality standards for the Anacostia River watershed.

Public participation is vital to the planning process. You are invited to review the proposal and provide comments and ideas from July 19 through August 17. To provide comments online starting on July 19, 2021, visit https://parkplanning.nps.gov/stickfoot. If you prefer to mail your comments, make sure they are postmarked by August 17, 2021, to receive consideration. Mail comments to the address below.
