Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, Feasibility Study and Environmental Assessment for a new Headquarters and Visitor Contact Station

The National Park Service (NPS) proposes to construct a new Headquarters (HQ) and Visitor Contact Station(VCS) for the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail (Overmountain or Trail), a 330-mile long non-motorized route for public use that traverses portions of Virginia (VA), Tennessee (TN), North Carolina (NC), and South Carolina (SC).

This EA presents four action alternatives for four different sites and assesses the impacts that could result from the construction and operation of a new facility at each location. The EA also analyzes the baseline, or no action alternative, which is the continued use and operation of the current HQ at King's Mountain National Park, located in Blacksburg, SC.

The range of action alternatives includes options for siting a HQ/VC at one of four different locations. The HQ/VCS would support the expanding regional presence of Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail and increased staff required to maintain and manage the associated stewardship and public support
