Little River Canyon Visitor Use Fee Increase

Little River Canyon National Preserve is requesting public comment on a planned entrance fee increase at Canyon Mouth Park. The day use fee at Canyon Mouth Park has not been increased since 2005. The change, planned for implementation on January 1, 2018 includes increasing the per vehicle/1-day use fee from $3 to $10 and increasing the annual pass from $10 to $25 and creating a motorcycle fee of $5. The fees would go up again on January 1, 2019 to per vehicle/1-day use fee of $15, motorcycle of $10 and annual pass will be $30. These increases will bring Little River Canyon into compliance with current regulations and in line with other NPS sites of similar nature. All of the money collected will continue to be used for upkeep and improvements which directly impact visitors to the park.

Fees at Canyon Mouth Park provide access to all of the grounds including the picnic area, the river, hiking trails, and the parking lot. The Annual Pass will increase from $10 to $25, which will go into effect January 1, 2018. The Canyon Mouth Park Annual Pass allows for unlimited access to Canyon Mouth Park for one year from the date of purchase.

Future plans for the park include new restroom facilities, new rentable pavilions for groups, playground equipment, improved open spaces for family activities, improved picnic sites and improved trail maintenance/enhancement. Long range plans call for the rebuilding of the long washed Johnnies Creek swinging bridge for access ever further into the canyon. The Preserve is also considering a creating a fee area at the Main Falls/Martha's Fall area.
