Wears Valley Mountain Bike Trail Environmental Assessment

Great Smoky Mountains National Park (the Park) announces the release and public comment period for the Wears Valley Mountain Bike Trail System environmental assessment (EA) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and National Historic Preservation Act. The public comment period for the EA will begin October 16, 2020 and conclude November 15, 2020. You are encouraged to review the EA provided in the link below and provide comments on the proposed action, alternatives, and impact analysis.

During this period, the Park will host a ZOOM virtual public meeting starting at 5:00 pm on October 29. You are invited to attend this meeting to learn more and ask NPS representatives questions about the EA. Park staff will present an overview of the EA from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will then be available to answer questions from the public until 7:00 p.m. Please visit the meeting notices link on this page for more information on how to participate in the virtual public meeting.
