Wears Valley Mountain Bike Trail Scoping Newsletter-July 2020

Great Smoky Mountains National Park (the Park) is initiating an environmental assessment and 30-day public scoping period in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and National Historic Preservation Act for a proposed mountain bike trail system in the Foothills Parkway Section 8D corridor, Wears Valley, Sevier County, Tennessee.

As part of the scoping process, Park staff are reaching out to gather input by initiating a public comment period. You are encouraged to review the Scoping Newsletter provided in the link below and provide input on the proposed action, preliminary alternatives, and issues for consideration in the environmental assessment. Park staff will also host two virtual public meetings on July 28 and 30, 2020. Please visit the meeting notices link on this page for more information on how to participate in the virtual public meetings.

***Please note, the original newsletter mistakenly listed the total mountain bike trail mileage of alternative 3 as 12.4 miles instead of 10.0 miles. This number has been corrected in the electronic newsletter attached to this page.***
