Gatlinburg Spur Safety Improvements Scoping Newsletter-Aug 2021


Great Smoky Mountains National Park (the Park) is initiating an environmental assessment and public scoping period in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and National Historic Preservation Act for proposed safety improvements on the Gatlinburg Spur (Spur). The Spur is part of the Foothills Parkway in Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Park) and comprises approximately 4.2 miles of four-lane divided urban parkway between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg in Sevier County, Tennessee.

As part of the scoping process, Park staff are reaching out to gather input by initiating a public comment period. You are encouraged to review the Scoping Newsletter provided in the link below and provide input on the proposed action, preliminary alternatives, and issues for consideration in the environmental assessment.
