Press Release-Proposed minor boundary revision at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site


The National Park Service (NPS) has determined that a boundary revision is necessary for Fort Raleigh National Historic Site (FORA) to include approximately 2.32 acres of Fee interest identified as the Enoch Tract and approximately 0.48 acre Easement interest known as Southside Lane, at the southeastern boundary of the Park situated in Nags Head Township, shown on the plat filed in Plat Cabinet A, Slide 171, of the public records, Dare County, North Carolina. Section 7(c) of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, codified as amended at 54 U.S.C. Section 100506(c), authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to make this boundary revision after receipt of public comment. This notice is to provide a 45 calendar day public comment period regarding this boundary revision and a subsequent land exchange.

NPS Map Number 383/142840 depicts the minor boundary revision which will be published in the Federal Register to finalize the minor boundary revision. Also, FORA land status map titled Segment 1 depicts the above referenced Tract Nos. 01-124 and 01-125, which are the donation parcels.

Both maps are on file and available for inspection at the headquarters of Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, 1401 National Park Drive, Manteo, NC 27954 and at the National Park Service, Southeast Regional Office, Land Resources Program Center, 100 Alabama St. SW. Bldg. 1924, Atlanta, GA 30303.
