Boundary Study and Environmental Assessment for Fort Frederica National Monument

The purpose of the study is to determine whether a boundary expansion is appropriate for Fort Frederica National Monument, and if so, which properties are suitable and feasible for inclusion within an expanded monument boundary.
Two alternatives are analyzed in the draft study:
(1) Alternative A (no-action/continue current management) - Under this alternative, the National Park Service (NPS) would propose that no change be made to the existing boundary of Fort Frederica National Monument; and
(2) Alternative B (preferred alternative) - Under this alternative, the NPS would propose that Congress expand the monument by approximately 173 acres to protect additional important cultural and natural resources. Property would be acquired from willing donors or sellers only, subject to availability of funding.
