Final NPS and FPL Land Exchange Agreement, Everglades National Park, March 21, 2016

This is the formal agreement executed by NPS and FPL on March 21, 2016 for the exchange of FPL's 320 acre, 7.4 mile corridor within the East Everglades Expansion Area, for a 260 acre parcel of federal property located along the eastern edge of the Park.

The actual exchange of property between the NPS and FPL was completed on November 14, 2016. The exchange culminated years of negotiations, including an extensive NEPA analysis. Acquisition of the FPL parcel is needed in order to raise water levels in the Expansion Area, a critical component of long-term Everglades Restoration.
