Environmental Assessment, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Fire Management Plan

The National Park Service (NPS) is considering actions at Chickamauga and Chattanooga Military Park (park) to manage wildland fire and use prescribed fire. This environmental assessment describes the effects of the proposed project on the human environment and provides an opportunity for the public to comment. The document presents two alternatives: a no action alternative and a proposal to revise the park's fire management plan. The purpose of the update is to incorporate into the park's FMP the approximately 750-acre Moccasin Bend National Archeological District, which was added to the park's land base in 2003 and add the use of prescribed fire to support resource management objectives.

The park is inviting written public comments regarding the document and the proposed alternatives. Comments are requested by the end of the public scoping period on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Your written comments can be submitted through this website.
