Remediation of Selected Contaminated Mine Drainage Sites, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, McCreary County, Kentucky


The National Park Service in cooperation with the Army Corps of Engineers has developed an Environmental Assessment for the Remediation of Selected Contaminated Mine Drainage Sites in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area in McCreary County, Ky. The proposed reclamation sites are located near Blue Heron. The purpose of this document is to analyze the impacts to park resources as a result of contaminated mine drainage remediation. Contaminated mine remediation would help improve water quality and aquatic habitat in the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River.
