Public Scoping Newsletter and Presentation - Big Cypress National Preserve Hydrologic Restoration Management Plan and Environmental Assessment

Big Cypress National Preserve is beginning public scoping on a Hydrologic Restoration Management Plan and Environmental Assessment, June 14 - July 13, and we are requesting your input and comments on the attached newsletter.

The plan proposes an overall framework for re-engineering the water management infrastructure within the Preserve to help revitalize the hydrologic processes by enhancing the interrelationship between surface and groundwater to improve the quality, timing, and distribution of water throughout the Preserve's watershed including discharge into downstream environments, while preserving and enhancing visitor experience.

We will be hosting two virtual (online) meetings on June 22 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm ET (please register at: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2324967230334382092) and June 24 from 1:00pm - 2:30pm ET (please register at: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1553181535891621900). These meetings will provide background information about the planning process, and explain the purpose, need, proposed action and alternatives of the Hydrologic Restoration Management Plan and Environment Assessment.

You can provide comments by mailing them to Superintendent, Big Cypress National Preserve, 33100 Tamiami Trail East, Ochopee, Florida 34141-1000 or by following this link: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/BICY_hydro.

We look forward to receiving your input!
