Foundation Document Overviews

To effectively manage a national park unit and plan for its future, a basic understanding of a park's resources, values, and history is needed - a foundation for planning and management. These are called foundation documents. Foundation documents are at the core of each park's planning portfolio and highlight a park's legislated purpose and the fundamental resources and values that support this purpose.

Overview summaries of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area foundation document present the purpose, significance, and fundamental resources and values of the NPS units- -components that are central to management planning.
