Record of Decision for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park General Management Plan and Wilderness Study

This Record of Decision (ROD)), as required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), documents the decision of the National Park Service (NPS) to adopt the agency-preferred alternative as described in the Draft Hawaii Volcanoes National Park General Management Plan/Wilderness Study/Environmental Impact Statement (GMP/WS/EIS), and as amended by the errata in the Abbreviated Final GMP/WS/EIS. Mitigation measures designed to avoid or minimize impacts to park resources and a summary of agency coordination and public comment are also provided. A determination of non-impairment, as required by the NPS Organic Act of 1916, has been completed separately but is included in the attached Record of Decision document.

This Record of Decision and the Draft and Abbreviated Final GMP/WS/EIS constitute the record of the environmental impact analysis and decision-making process for the General Management Plan and Wilderness Study for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
