Crater Lake employees addressing an invasive plant population

Public Scoping Request

Crater Lake National Park invites public input on the scope of an Invasive Vegetation Management Plan in conformance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The Invasive Vegetation Management Plan would provide a framework for managing non-native, invasive plants in order to protect the park's native ecosystems. This plan will provide guidance on preventing new infestations of invasive plants and outline an adaptive management process for controlling existing populations of invasive plants within the park.

Public scoping is the initial step in the NEPA public planning process used by the National Park Service to engage agencies, organizations, and the public early in project planning by soliciting input on proposed actions, environmental issues, possible project alternatives, and pertinent sources of data. Information gathered during public scoping will be used to develop the range of issues and alternatives addressed in an Environmental Assessment.

Please review the Public Scoping Request Letter and provide the National Park Service feedback on this proposed Invasive Vegetation Management Plan. The comment period will be open through March 9, 2016.
