WHAT KIND OF NATIONAL PARK DO YOU WANT GATEWAY TO BE?

Several different approaches are possible to preserve the park's collection of natural and cultural resources and create meaningful opportunities to learn, explore, and recreate. These options are called Preliminary Alternative Concepts. Each Preliminary Alternative Concept includes a set of ideas that would steer park management in a different direction over the next twenty years. These concepts are presented on page 11 in the Fall 2010 GMP newsletter.

Topic Questions Instructions:

Please review the newsletter, and feel free to comment on anything you read in it. In particular, please take note of the "Topic Questions" we have identified, and address them individually. It would be very helpful if you identified or labeled the topic (A, B, C, D, E or F) each of your answers relates to, so we are sure which answer relates to which topic you reply to. Thank you!

1. Do you think each concept helps Gateway carry out its purpose?

2. Will the park's natural and cultural resources that are important to you be adequately preserved under each concept?

3. What types of educational and recreational activities do you think are appropriate in each concept?

4. Do the concepts provide ways for people to reach Gateway and move around the different sites?

5. How could partnerships support the ideas in each concept?

6. Are there other ideas important to you that are missing from these concepts?
