Public Scoping for Visitor Use Management Plan

The National Park Service (NPS) is initiating public scoping in the development of a Visitor Use Management Plan (the VUM plan) for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and Middle Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River (the park). The purpose of the plan is to maximize the ability of the National Park Service to encourage access and protect the park's natural and cultural resources. The planning process will examine current and potential visitor opportunities and develop long-term strategies for providing access, connecting visitors to important experiences, and managing visitor use.

Thank you for all of the great input we have received to date through the public listening sessions in April. Your input is an important part of the development of the VUM plan. The VUM Plan project team has been working hard to develop possible management strategies based on public and stakeholder input and feedback from all levels of the NPS. At this time we would like feedback from the public on a selection of possible strategies. These strategies would help to protect the park's fundamental resources and values and provide better visitor access and recreational opportunities.

In the 'document list' section you will find a summary report from the April listening sessions. You will also find a newsletter with a project update and a selection of some possible management strategies that we are asking for your comments on under 'open for comment'.

The NPS will be hosting three open house meetings and one webinar to present some of the possible management strategies and gather public input in addition to comments collected here on PEPC. See more information about the meetings in the 'meeting notices' section of this page. If were unable to attend the meetings, but would still like to hear about the plan, you can listen to a recorded version of the webinar here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/recording/5563190556225952769

Your input is an important part of the development of the VUM plan. Thank you for your participation.
