Newtonia Battlefields SRS Newsletter 1

The National Park Service was directed by Congress to study the Newtonia Battlfields in Newtonia, Missouri for possible inclusion in the national park system. This newsletter is notification for the public meeting and provides information about the history the Newtonia battles and information about the Special Resource Study process. It also includes our preliminary study timeline.

The study team will consider the significance, suitability, and feasibility of the site, as well as several management alternatives, in making a determination about the Newtonia Battlefields as a potential new unit or as an addition to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. With the help of your observations, insights, and questions at public meetings and in written comments, we can shape a study that reflects the concerns of the community and interested parties.
