Replace Big Oak Flat Welcome Center Finding of No Significant Impact and Determination of No Impairment

We are pleased to announce the availability of a finding of no significant impact for the Replace the Big Oak Flat Welcome Center Project. After consideration of the environmental assessment and public, tribal, and agency comments, the finding concludes that the project will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment. Preparation of an environmental impact statement is not required. The project will improve visitor experience, address deferred maintenance, improve safety, and increase operational efficiency at the Big Oak Flat Welcome Center Complex.

Thank you for your interest and comments throughout the project planning process. The National Park Service plans to begin implementation of the project in early 2020. Although public comments are not solicited on this decision document, if you would like to continue to be engaged in park planning efforts you can sign-up to receive email updates regarding park planning updates by emailing yose_planning@nps.gov.
