Park Accessibility Management Plan

This report overview documents current conditions at the park and provides recommendations for how the park can become universally accessible for park visitors and employees. Preparation of a plan for transitioning to full accessibility is mandated by regulations under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as they apply to the U.S. Department of the Interior. The purpose of a transition plan is to address the required physical, structural, and programmatic changes needed to make facilities, programs, services, and activities accessible to and usable by disabled people. The transition plan addresses physical and structural changes needed. An action plan should address the programmatic changes (modification of policies, auxiliary aids, etc.) as not all existing facilities must be made physically.

The document will guide Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial staff in making improvements to accommodate the public in accordance with all federal accessibility requirements for both programmatic and physical access. Recommendations presented in the Accessibility Plan are consistent with ongoing plans to rehabilitate the lower and upper plazas and repair the Memorial and seawalls.
