Proposal to Increase Fees at Padre Island National Seashore


Padre Island National Seashore proposes to change existing entrance and expanded amenity fees beginning January 2018. the federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act of 2004 (FLREA) requires that the public have an opportunity to participate in the development of or change to a recreational fee.

Padre Island National Seashore proposes to change the following existing fees:

Entrance Fees Current Proposed
Single Vehicle (7-Day Pass) $10 $20
Annual Pass $20 $40
Individual (7-Day Pass) $5 $10
Motorcycle (7-Day Pass) $5 $15
Commercial tour flat rate fees would remain at current rates. All interagency passes would remain at current rates: Annual ($80), Access (Free), and Military (Free).

Boat Launch Ramp Fees Current Proposed
Daily Boat Ramp $5 $5
Annual Boat Ramp $10 $30

Camping Fees Current Proposed
Malaquite Campground (1-6 people) $8 $14
Bird Island Basin Campground (1-6 people) $5 $8


80% of Fees Collected Stay Within Padre Island National Seashore
The proposed fee increases will allow Padre Island National Seashore to improve facilities and services that benefit the visitor experience.
Your Feedback Is Important
Padre Island National Seashore is seeking public input to gauge support for proposed fee increases.
The comment period is open from July 21 through September 22, 2017.
