Chiricahua National Monument Proposes Camping Fee Increase

Park Management is considering an increase in the camping fee at Bonita Canyon Campground in Chiricahua National Monument. Currently the camping fee is $12 per site per night, or $6 for Senior, Access, Golden Age and Golden Access passholders. This has been the fee since 2002. For reservations made through the website Recreation.gov, there is a contract cost of $6.35 for each reservation. With an upcoming change in the contract, that cost will increase to $8.40 per reservation. The fees collected at Chiricahua National Monument remain in the park to directly benefit park operations. There continues to be a growing need for funds to improve facilities, infrastructure and visitor services in parks. The new revenue from the fee increase will be used to provide enhanced visitor services including repair and maintenance of facilities, capital improvements, resource protection and additional visitor programs and services. There will be an emphasis on park-deferred maintenance projects.
