Minidoka National Historic Site Accepting Comments on Development of Visitor and Administrative Facilities

Since last fall, the park has been planning for rehabilitation of the historic Herrmann House as a new administrative facility and for rehabilitation of the camp's remaining warehouse as a visitor contact station. Upon completion, the proposed visitor contact station would help to improve visitor appreciation and understanding of the WWII incarceration of innocent U.S. citizens. The facilities would also provide shelter and permanent restrooms. The Farm-in-a-Day (Herrmann) House would provide for National Park Service offices. It would also serve as a place for visitors to obtain information pending completion of the visitor contact station. Both projects are called for in the 2006 General Management Plan.
