White-tailed Deer Management Plan/FEIS ROD Executed September 19, 2014.

The National Park Service has approved a plan that protects the cultural landscapes and forests of by reducing the park's deer population through lethal and non-lethal means.

On October 1, 2014, the National Park Service approved the Record of Decision for the Antietam National Battlefield, Monocacy National Battlefield, and Manassas National Battlefield Park Park Final White-tailed Deer Management Plan/Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). Prepared by the National Park Service as required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, the FEIS described and analyzed the environmental impacts of taking no new action or following one of three action alternatives to manage the deer population in the parks.
