Jenny Lake Renewal Plan EA
The Jenny Lake Renewal Environmental Assessment (EA) is now available for public review. The EA analyzes a long-range, comprehensive plan for the Jenny Lake area, one of the most popular day-use areas in the park. Four areas are considered for rehabilitation: 1. South Jenny Lake, 2.Jenny Lake Overlook, 3. The String Lake Outlet, and 4. and the backcountry areas of Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point and their associated trails.
The National Park Service preferred alternative proposes the rehabilitation of backcountry trails and bridges in the Jenny Lake recommended wilderness areas, as well as renovations of Jenny Lake frontcountry areas. The largest component of the project is the renovation of the South Jenny Lake visitor complex, which includes an improved accessible trail system, additional visitor amenities, and expanded interpretative opportunities.
The public comment period is from February 14-March 15, 2014. If you wish to review and/or comment on the environmental assessment, please comment on this site (http://parkplanning.nps.gov/jennylake). You may also submit your comments by mail:
