Quagga-Zebra Mussel Management Plan - Scoping

Thank you for your interest in the Quagga-Zebra Mussel Management Plan (QZMP). This plan will help the NPS decide if any of our current invasive mussel prevention efforts should stop, or be modified. The QZMP will also identify what new management actions should be taken to detect additional changes in invasive mussel population in Lake Powell, and what control, containment, or other actions should be taken to manage invasive mussels at Glen Canyon. Your input now will help inform the planning process, particularly the development of preliminary alternatives.

Topic Questions:

1. What current management actions related to the prevention of invasive mussels should continue, and why (e.g. boat inspection, decontamination, quarantine)?

2. What should change about how Lake Powell is managed now that quagga mussels are present here?

3. What new actions should be taken? Where? When? How?

4. What information should the NPS consider when making decisions about Invasive Mussel Management at Glen Canyon, including Lake Powell?

5. How would these changes affect you?

6. What else do think we should know or consider as part of this plan?
