Newbold Dam Removal Public Scoping Notice

This notice informs the public of a proposed NPS action to remove the Newbold diversion dam, an aging low-head log and rock dam in the Gros Ventre River at Kelly, Wyoming. The diversion dam is in poor condition and will likely fail with a heavy runoff season and high water flow. The NPS, Trout Unlimited, and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department have identified it as an impediment to natural fish migration upstream. Planned removal is advised for both safety and resource reasons. The notice announces the opening of a public scoping period, during which the public can review the proposed project and submit their thoughts and concerns.
