Generals Highway EA: Deer Ridge to Wolverton

This Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared by the National Park Service (NPS) in cooperation with the Central Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to evaluate the proposed work on Generals Highway, between Deer Ridge and Wolverton Road (including the Wolverton Road).

Generals Highway was originally completed in 1935 and has periodically needed repairs to address structural deficiencies and normal wear that have led to deterioration of the highway. The preferred alternative includes a number of measures to rehabilitate and improve the condition of the Generals Highway, including repairs and improvements to address inadequate drainage, slumping, pavement cracking, potholes, and other structural problems. New pullouts and improvements at intersections and parking areas along the highway also are components of the project. If the project is approved, work could start as early as 2014, depending on available funding.
