Curry Village Rockfall Hazard Zone Structures - FONSI, MOA, and Comment Report

This Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) documents the decision of the National Park Service at Yosemite National Park to remove all structures within the active rockfall hazard zone at Curry Village within Yosemite Valley. After the October 2008 rockfall events, the National Park Service permanently closed all structures within the rockfall hazard zone. An environmental assessment analyzing future treatment options for the structures was available for public review and comment August/September 2011.

The Selected Action is the same as described for the Preferred Alternative (Alternative 1 - Remove All Structures) in the environmental assessment. To view the environmental assessment, see the separate posting in PEPC by clicking on the "Document List" on the lefthand side of the screen.

The final decision package (files posted below) consists of the following:
-Finding of No Significant Impact
-Memorandum of Agreement between the National Park Service and the State Historic Preservation Officer
-Public Comment and Response Report

Implementation of the project will begin immediately through the initiation of the property disposal process. Pending the outcome of the disposition process and salvage of materials, the removal of structures is anticipated to begin in Fall 2012.
