Rehabilitate Failing Park Sewage System Environmental Assessment

The National Park Service (NPS) announces the availability of the Environmental Assessment (EA) for public review and comment for rehabilitation of the failing sewage system within Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. The rehabilitation would provide a safe, healthy, and functional environment, and maintain public health and future service for park visitors and staff.

This EA analyzes three alternatives, the no action alternative (A) and two action alternatives (B and C). Alternative B involves open-cut trench methodology for sewer line replacement. Alternative C, the agency's preferred alternative, is a modified version of alternative B, which would reduce potential impacts to the federally listed Utah prairie dog (UPD) by utilizing pipe bursting methodology through active UPD colonies.
