27390 - Natural Resources Monitoring

This project consists of non-destructive monitoring of the monument's biota to determine population status, trends, environmental impacts and the effectiveness of natural resource management implementation plans. The monitoring will be conducted by park staff, Heartland Network personnel, academic researchers and researchers working for the National Park Service. All research will be conducted according to protocols accepted by the monument and the National Park Service.

The monitoring process will include flora, fauna, aquatic, floodplain, forest and cultural site assessments.
