Finding of No Significant Impact and Errata for Abandoned Mine Lands Safety Installations Multiple Mine Openings

A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the implementation of safety options at abandoned mine lands in Mojave National Preserve (the Preserve) is available for download. The purpose of this project is to mitigate human and environmental hazards present at the Preserve.

The NPS selected Alternative B for implementation, which includes the installation of safety features at multiple abandoned mine openings in the Preserve using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Alternative B was described in detail in the environmental assessment (EA), which was available for public comment from February 2, 2010 to February 22, 2010. There were no modifications or revisions to the proposal due to public comment.

There were some changes to the text of the EA based on new information. These text changes and responses to public comments were incorporated into Errata for the EA, which are included as an appendix to the FONSI.
