Alternative Description:
The Atchafalaya National Heritage Area incorporates unrivaled natural resources including the nation's largest river swamp. The shape of the land and water systems have influenced where people live, how they travel and how they use and enjoy the land and water of this special ecosystem.

This alternative focuses on natural resources, how humans have tried to influence nature and natural resource-based recreation. These topics would be used to organize and guide visitors' experiences of the heritage area. Strategies and programs would emphasize area-wide linkages, resources, and attractions that relate to these topics. This alternative would be directed primarily toward visitors with an interest in these heritage-related topics.
