Reestablish Powder Mill Campsites

Proposed plans are to relocate/restore the 5 campsites (6-10) made unusable from flooding. Sites will be moved across the existing road and slightly north from current location. All work is within the Powder Mill developed area. Each site will consist of mostly fill with the exception of minimal sod and forest removal. Approximately 196 ton of base chat material, 50 ton of top soil all purchased from local quarry and farmers outside of the park. We will be using the existing parking area and road for staging and any other material will be hauled in as needed. All trees and brush will be chipped onsite and removed. No trees over 12 inches in diameter will be removed, exact campsite locations will be adjusted to minimize tree removal. Each site will be approximately 1200 sq.ft., the same size foot print as the existing sites. This project will restore visitor services lost to the heavy flood event.
