Catoctin Aqueduct Restoration Draft Environmental Assessment


The Superintendent of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Site invites you to review the draft environmental assessment(EA) for the proposed "CATOCTIN AQUEDUCT RESTORATION March 2008." You can provide comments, via this website, regarding the proposed restoration of one of eleven aqueducts built by the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company to cross various larger tributaries of the Potomac River. This historic feature is located in Frederick County, Maryland and crosses Catoctin Creek.

Written comments, either through this website or via postal letter, will be accepted only during the 36 day public review period. Letters must be postmarked by midnight on April 11, 2008 to be considered. Letters are to be addressed to Superintendent, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park, 1850 Dual Highway, Suite 100, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.

NOTE****Due to an electrical power outage in Washington, DC on April 3 through April 4, the closing date for this public review has been extended until April 14.
