Construction of Stabilized Boat Ramp & Parking Area

The National Park Service (NPS)- Ozark National Scenic Riverways(OZAR)is preparing an environmental assessment (EA) which will address a proposal to construct a stabilized boat ramp and accompanying parking area that would accommodate approximately 18-20 vehicles with boat trailers located upstream from the Van Buren "gap" in the general area of Chilton Creek on the Lower Current River. Weymeyer Landing will be one of the sites considered. The purpose of the EA is to identify and examine associated issues/problems and develop a set of viable alternatives for addressing these issues. The EA will evaluate each alternative and the potential impacts of all proposed actions. After careful consideration, a preferred alternative will be selected as a result of this process, with the goal of ensuring the protection of the natural and cultural resources within the Chilton Creek area, while providing for an appropriate visitor experience. For a more detailed description of this proposal as it relates to the identified purpose and need please review the Scoping Notice (attached .pdf document---see below).
