Finding of No Significant Impact - Hermit Road Rehabilitation

Grand Canyon National Park proposes to rehabilitate the seven-mile long historic Hermit Road, located on the South Rim between Grand Canyon Village and Hermits Rest. Proposed actions described in the September 2006 Environmental Assessment include widening and resurfacing the road, improving existing trails, overlooks and parking areas, and constructing a multi-modal greenway trail. The Finding of No Significant Impact documents that the preferred alternative does not constitute a major federal action that normally requires preparation of an environmental impact statement nor an action that would significantly affect the quality of the human environment. Negative impacts that could occur are negligible to moderate in effect.
